Deadly, Poisoness Fish Called Fugu My bother, Toshi, and I are leaving for Japan next week to visit our sister restaurant, Sushi Den. We were born in a place called Kyushu Island, which is the southern part of Japan. Fugu, a deadly, poisonous fish is very famous in this area. Fugu is known as Blowfish in English, named for its appearance. Fugu cuisine is primarily served during the winter season and whenever I am in Japan at that time of year, I never fail to visit one of the restaurants that serve Fugu dishes. I will have a Fugu filled dinner--hot Fugu sake, all kinds of Fugu sashimi, Fugu hot pot/stew, etc. Incidentally, a few people die from eating this poisonous fish every year. So, stay tuned--we will share our experience with you in January. |
